Ticket
Protection Plan PLUS Coverage and Conditions
In order to ensure peace of
mind and protect your vacation, Ticket
Protection Plan PLUS is essential for rail
travelers. Rail passes are like cash. If you
are traveling in Europe and your rail pass
is lost or stolen, you will not receive a
refund unless you have Ticket Protection
Plan PLUS. Under the Ticket Protection Plan
PLUS Program, you are entitled to a full
refund of the unused portion of your
original rail passes or rail and drive
passes. This service is available for only
$14, and covers all rail passes issued by
this site.
You must purchase rail
Ticket Protection Plan PLUS at the same time
as the your pass. When you order your pass
online, you will see that the box for Ticket
Protection Plan PLUS is already set to
accept. If you do not want to participate in
the Pass Security Program you may change
this and decline the protection.

professional who will replace the lost
item as quickly as possible. Travel
Guard will also coordinate the transfer
of eye prescription information.
- Family liaison
and message relay: Travel Guard
will facilitate communications between
you and your family if you are unable to
do so regardless of accident or illness.
- Hospital and
provider bill auditing: At your
direction Travel Guard will be pleased
to audit hospital and medical provider
bills to assure that you are paying only
those bills they actually incurred and
that all charges for those services have
been correctly applied.
- Inpatient case
management: If you are
hospitalized Travel Guard will assist in
the management of your medical and
related services until you are
discharged
- Medical
monitoring: If medical care is
needed while traveling, Travel Guard
will designate one of their assistance
coordinators and one licensed medical
advisor to closely monitor you medical
condition and treatment from initial
admission to discharge. Upon request,
the assistance coordinator will
continually update a designated family
guest and personal physician of your
condition and treatment.
- Medical
referrals: Travel Guard will
provide the name, address, telephone
number and office hours of English
speaking medical and health care
professionals in the area of travel.
Final selection of the medical care
provider is your responsibility
- Outpatient case
management: Even if you are not
hospitalized, Travel Guard will manage
your outpatient medical care and related
services so you can anticipate a full
recovery and return home.
- Relative or
visitor to beside: Arrangements
for relatives or visitors to travel to
your bedside can be made through the 24
hour assistance help line
- Repatriation of
mortal remains: In the event of
a death while traveling, Travel Guard
will arrange for the preparation and air
transportation of your mortal remains to
be returned.
- Return of
dependant children: Should you
have a medical event while traveling
Travel Guard will arrange for the return
of all dependant children traveling with
them to their home.
- Return of guest
and traveling companions home: Should
a crisis at home while you are
traveling, Travel Guard will arrange for
your return and your travel companion to
their home.
- Road ambulance to
nearest home country hospital: Travel
Guard will arrange for a road ambulance
to meet and transport you to the nearest
hospital in your home country upon
arrival if you medical condition
requires

help obtain the necessary medical and
government authorizations to deliver
them to you from an appropriate
supplier.
Terms and Conditions of
the program are as follows:
Agreements
We will reimburse the
pass holder(s) named on the rail pass issued
by this site for the theft or accidental
loss of the rail pass, subject to the
following Exclusions, Limitations and
Conditions.
- A Loss means the theft or
accidental loss of the rail pass
- Effective period of
coverage is the period from the moment
the pass holder leaves on their trip
until the moment they return
- Program agreements apply
only to loss sustained during the
effective period
Exclusions
This program does not
apply to any loss caused by
- Delay, detention or
confiscation by customs officers,
officials, police or other security
officers
- War, invasion,
hostilities (whether war be declared or
not), civil war, rebellion, revolution,
insurrection of military or usurped
power
- Any dishonest, fraudulent
or criminal act by the pass holder
- Damage due to wear and
tear, gradual deterioration, vermin, or
inherent vice
Limits of
Liability
The limits of liability
shall be the lesser of the actual cash value
of the rail pass at the time of the loss; or
the unused portion of the rail pass - which
is calculated by the total number of valid
days allowed within the rail pass duration
less the valid days used.
The loss date shall be the
date on which the pass holder first became
aware of the loss of the rail pass or the
date 24 hours prior to the reporting of the
loss to the police under the following
condition #2, whichever is later.
Conditions
Each claim will be
reimbursed, for the unused value of the
original lost or stolen pass, to the
individual who paid for the coverage and met
all the requirements as described herein.
- The pass holder is responsible for the
safety, security and supervision of the
rail pass
- The pass holder should file a police
report within 24 hours of the loss or
theft of the pass
- The pass holder must either purchase a
replacement rail pass or point to point
tickets for the remainder of the trip.
(Air and bus tickets do not apply)
- Notice of the claim must be given to
us within 30 days of return from their
trip
- To submit a claim, pass holder must
follow all steps under the section “To
File a Claim”
- If any claims made under this program
are covered by any other valid and
collectible insurance or indemnity, we
will only pay the difference between the
amount paid under the other policy and
the total amount which would otherwise
be payable under this program
- No change to this program will be
valid unless outlined in writing and
signed by us
- No legal action may be brought to
recover on this program within 60 days
after a claim has been submitted as
required herein, and no such legal
action may be brought after one year
from the requirement time for a claim to
be filed
- Any provision of this program that is
in conflict with applicable law is
hereby amended to conform to minimum
requirements of such law
To File a Claim
Follow these simple
steps in order to make a claim:
- Report loss/theft to
local police within 24 hours.
- Purchase a new pass or
rail ticket for the remaining days.
Within 30 days after
returning home,
Send us:
- A notarized written
report that includes the pass holder’s
name, the date the pass was validated,
how many days were unused, and a
description of what happened to the
pass.
- Your official police
report and your replacement ticket
receipt.
- Also include a copy of
your airline, ferry, coach or Eurostar
ticket receipt.
Please make a photocopy
of all documents for your own records.
